ICM improves manufacturing processes by using a 3D printer

ICM (Integral de Conexión y Montajes, S.L.) has acquired a 3D printer to make various tools useful for the company in manufacturing of custom wire harness. Thanks to them ICM have improved some of the company’s manufacturing processes.

Specifically, processes have been optimized for the encapsulation of connectors (potting), the routing of cables to form bundles, and the one that prevents cable breaks. Thus, for example, in the case of this last process, the tool allows the cable to be fixed to the connector, preventing it from turning relative to the cable and thereby breaking it.

The initiative has responded to the application of continuous improvement in ICM, which this time translates into greater quality in the result of the final product requested by our clients.

Do you know of any example of additive manufacturing that has allowed improvements of this type?
